The rugby union is one of the two forms of the rugby football. The second form is known as the rugby league. Basically, the union is made of 15 players where 8 are forwards and 7 backs. There can be up to eight replacements depending on the competition. In spite the fact that the players are well built, not all of them are physically fit. The rugby unions have many benefits to the players to help them achieve the desired fitness.
The first benefit that one gets is the great upper body strength. This is essential in playing this game. This is brought about by the fact that arms are needed for the tackling of the opponents and the throwing of the ball. As a result, the player gets muscular strong arms due to the frequency of this muscle use.
The legs are not left behind. Basically, the rugby union involves 80 minutes of running to and fro the court. As a result, one gets to develop stronger leg muscles. In addition to that, running and scrums which are frequent in the game helps in achieving the desired muscles and strength.
The game also helps one improve the flexibility. The rugby union requires sudden change of motion, sudden change in direction of feet and arms as well as alertness. As a result, the player is able to achieve reliable flexibility that is essential for health.
Finally, one is able to improve the cardiovascular system of the body. Due to the frequent runs and scrums, one is able to develop a strong heart and lungs.
